WELCOME TO TARGETED-CARS.COM!
This website has been established as a non-profit site designed to show data on the number of new cars stolen every calendar year in the U.S. no matter whether it is a $600k Rolls Royce or a $20k Nissan.
You can select a year by clicking the links along the top of the site, and view and sort all the data on that page.
The information and statistics come from the National Highway traffic Safety Administration and include every major car brand sold in the US, not including trucks or kit cars, every model they sold in the US market in that year, and the number of those cars produced that were stolen in that calendar year. We also work out the number of cars per thousand stolen for you, so you can see just how “targeted” any new car is.
The figures cover all stolen new cars registered in that year, whether they were recovered or not, and also cover all types of theft – from the opportunistic kind when an owner absent mindedly leaves the keys in the car while the vehicle is unoccupied, to the stolen to order types of theft by professional thieves.
There is always a time lag of a few years as it takes the NHTSA a while to collate that data, so the most recent available is 2007′s figures. We hope to publish more information every year as is comes available. If you would like to view the raw data, you can visit the NHTSA website yourself by following this link: NHTSA Website.
